Reptiles That Start With E

Today, we’re taking a look at reptiles beginning with the letter “E”. The European Pond Turtle (Emys orbicularis) is one such species found throughout Europe and commonly dwelling in ponds or streams. They feed on aquatic plants and insects, making them excellent pets if you have the proper setup for a turtle tank.

The Eastern Cuora is an Asian box turtle with a glossy shell that can vary in colors, ranging from yellow to brown, black or olive-green depending on its location. When kept as pets, it’s important to provide them with plenty of hiding spots, such as grassy plants or rocks, for their need of security.

Another creature beginning with “”E”” is the Elegant Burrowing Snake (Rhinotyphlops elegans), spotted in northern Australia where they love to bask in the heat to sense food. If this snake is your pet, make sure you give it sandy or finely ground substrate so they can burrow comfortably.

Finally there’s the Southern Alligator Lizard (Elgaria multicarinata). This reptile lives in parts of California, Nevada and Arizona and looks like an alligator but is actually gentle when handled correctly. As food it enjoys crickets – if you own one as a pet, be sure to supply ample amounts of these!
