Birds That Start With D

Birds that start with the letter D are plentiful and diverse. Ducks, for example, can usually be found near ponds and lakes, or sometimes even in urban areas. They feed on small fish, insects and aquatic plants, making them a colorful sight with their array of bright feathers.

Doves are another popular bird beginning with D; they sing rarely but make up for this lack of vocalization with their soothing coos heard early in the morning. They adore grains as snacks, so if you’re lucky enough you may spot them at bird feeders!

The drongo is a special type of bird mostly found in Africa and India; its black feathers glisten in the sun and its long tail adds to its majestic form. But what’s perhaps more remarkable about this species is its intelligence: it can mimic other birds’ songs to trick predators!
